New Delhi: Brendon McCullum’s blistering innings took the Kinght Riders to a comfortable 36-run win over the Jamaica Tallawahs and also placed them at top of the CPL table.
Tallawahs decision to send the opposition in worked wonders when Santokie send Sunil Narine back to the pavilion of the very first ball of the match. But their joy was short lived as McCullum and Collin Munro decimated the Tallawahs attack with breathtaking strokeplay.
McCullum fell just short of a well deserved century but scored 91 off just 62 balls. He batted almost the entire innings and hit 6 sixes and 5 boundaries to take the TKR total well past 200.
He was well supported by countrymen Collin Munro, who scored at a strike rate of 175 on his way to 42.
A cameo from Darren Bravo (28 off 13) meant TKR put on a formidable 208 for 6 at the end of 20 overs.
In reply, Tallawahs rode on the back of a yet another half-century of Kumar Sangakkara (53) but they were always behind the required rate mainly because of some outstdning bowling from Javon Searless (3/27) and captain Dwayne Bravo (1/28).
The Tallwahs could only manage to reach 172 intheir allotted 20 overs.
