Argentina's star footballer Lionel Messi scored his record 644th career goal for Barcelona Football Club earlier this week and thus broke the world record for the most goals scored by a player for any club. The Barcelona's captain goal against Valladolid in a match in La Liga broke Pele's record for most strikes for a single club. Messi scored in the 65th minute to help Barcelona beat Valladolid 3–0. Pelé, in his career, had scored 643 goals for Santos between 1957 and 1974.

While Messi expressed his gratitude to everyone on this achievement, the beer brewing company Budweiser, self-styled “King of Beers”, celebrated it in a really cool way.

In what can be termed as a really great publicity stunt, Budweiser have sent a special beer bottle to all the goalkeepers who Messi scored against. Leo Messi's picture was imprinted on all the 644 custom bottles, with each bottle numbered with the corresponding goal on the front of the label. According to the company, they have sent a total of 644 beer bottles to 160 goalkeepers for 644 goals.

Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, against whom Messi scored two goals in the 2017 Champions League, received the 525 and 515 number bottles. Buffon also shared his picture on his social media account and congratulated Messi. Tagging Budweiser company, he wrote,"@budfootball... thanks for the beers.Clinking beer mugs I’ll take it as a compliment. Winking face We have great battles over the years! Congratulations on breaking the 644 record #Messi! it really is an unbelievable achievement. Cheers! #BeAKing #ad."

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper John Oblak is expected to get a crate of beer bottles as Messi scored a total of 11 goals against him. Oblak said in a conversation with Sky Sports," He has scored a lot of goals against me. Many! But he is a great player. Many times when he scored, you could not understand how he did so easily."

A statement from Budweiser said: '644 goals, 644 personalised beers, 160 goalkeepers.  Leo Messi delivers on the pitch, we deliver off the pitch. A personalised bottle for each goalkeeper'.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizbalaga also shared his photo with two bottles. Messi had scored two goals in the 2017-18 season, playing against Athletic Bilbao.

Former Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves is perhaps the goalkeeper with the most Messi goals conceded against him. Messi has scored 19 goals against Alves. Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas could also get a lot of bottles as Messi scored 17 goals against him as well. The beer bottle, numbering 644, will go to Valladolid goalkeeper Jordy Masip against whom Messi holds the world record.
