The Indian cricket team's star pacer Ishant Sharma said he was extremely happy that he was part of the Indian team that defeated Australia on their home soil in the Test series, last year. The veteran speedster believes winning Test series in Australia is a big achievement for any player.
Last time, team India under Virat Kohli's captaincy in 2018-19 scripted history by defeating the Tim Paine-led Aussies on their home soil 2-1 - becoming the first-ever Indian team to register a Test series win in Australia.
"First time winning a Test series in Australia is obviously a very big thing for any cricketer. It was big for me as I had toured Australia four times and I know how tough it is. The team had the motivation to create history in Australia," Ishant told his Indian teammate Mayank Agarwal on the series 'Open Nets with Mayank' hosted by bcci.tv.
When asked if he will try to mimic Smith in the upcoming tour, Ishant replied: "At this point in time, I want to enjoy my cricket by taking wickets and contributing to the side. I will focus on this only, unless and until you guys don't provoke me to do something mischievous."
Team India will play their first-ever D/N Test match on foreign soil against the hosts Australia at Adelaide Oval from December 11 to 15.
India's tour of Australia includes three ODIs, three T20Is and 4 Tests against the Australian cricket team between October 11 and January 17.
