A fit-again Bhuvneswar was on Monday included in India A squad for the ongoing Quadrangular series and will take part in the match against South Africa A for the third place at Alur on Wednesday.
Kumar was declared fit after going through a rigorous training programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for the last 3 weeks. He had aggravated his lower back injury while playing the third India-England ODI match in the UK. He was subsequently ruled out of the ongoing India-England Test series.
"Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been declared fit and will be a part of India A squad in the ongoing Quadrangular series," the BCCI said in a statement.
It is learnt that Kumar was not included in the Indian Test side announced August 22 for the final two Tests in England because BCCI wanted him to prove his match-fitness in the domestic circuit.
There are however no doubts about Kumar’s participation in the upcoming Asia Cup, slated to begin from September 15 in UAE.
Kumar will turn up for the Shreyas Iyer-led India A for the third spot against South Africa A on Wednesday. Both teams are out of the final's race, which will be played between India B and Australia A on the same day at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
