Lanka Premier League’s fourth edition is undergoing and fans have witnessed some nail-biting thrillers so far. From lethal spells to power-hitting, fans have seen it all. But then this time something bizarre happened that hogged all the limelight of the ongoing Lanka Premier League, the intervention of snakes during the games. Players were dazed to see a snake on the field during the match between B-Love Kandy and Jaffna Kings, interrupting the proceedings for a while.
Speaking on the same, India’s veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin said that Sri Lanka is surrounded by forests and which is why it becomes difficult to control such incidents.
"You would have seen the recent trending video of Isuru Udana during a match. The snake went so close to him in that game. I am not an expert and I don't know it was a poisonous snake or not. Many of them commented on that video saying that it was not a poisonous snake. But still, a player will be definitely scared seeing a snake on the cricket field. I mean what can cricket authorities do about this, right?" Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
"Because we are constructing so many things in places where wild animals reside. Also, Sri Lanka is a place that is surrounded by forests. If the authorities can do something about this, it will be really good for both the animals as well as the players," he added.
In a video that went viral on social media, a snake was spotted entering the field during Jaffna's chase. The snake was seen crawling ahead but then after seeing the same, Kandy pacer Isuru Udana got scared. The pacer was then spotted making a quick escape and then went on to play the game.
