BCCI Approves 10-Team IPL From 2020 Edition!

Big news for the fans of the Indian Premier League! The BCCI general body in its 89th Annual general Meeting (AGM) has decided to allow entry of two more new teams, to make it a 10-team T20 League from year 2022. The question of who will be the owner of 2 new franchises is quite interesting for everyone. Earlier in 2011, 10 teams participated for the first and last time in IPL. The Kochi Tuskers and Sahara Pune Warriors were then part of this league.

According to reports, Adani Group and Sanjeev Goenka are ahead in the race to buy new IPL teams. One of the new teams in the IPL may be from Ahmedabad, which the Adani Group has already expressed its intention to buy.

In 2022, when the cash-rich tournament will be a 10-team affair, then their format may also change. Currently, the IPL follows a round robin format in which each team competes with each other 2–2 times and the 4 teams with the most points play the qualifiers. But with 10 teams, the format is likely to be different as it is being assumed that the management will most likely divide the 10 teams into two groups. However, there has been no official confirmation about this.
