New Delhi: Daniel Christian’s outstanding five-for and D’Arcy Short’s fireworks with the bat ensured an easy 8-wicket victory for Hobart Hurricnaes against Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League match at Hobart.
The Hurricanes’ decision to send the Strikers in was proven right by Australia all-rounder Daniel Christian as the right-arm seamer returned with unimaginable figures of 5 for 14 in his four overs to restrict the Strikers to a modest 143.
Strikers went off to a decent start with openers Ben Dunk and Jake Weatherald, but the slide began with the dismissal of Dunk, bowled off Milenko yorker.
Brad Hodge was the top scorer for Strikers, with his knock of 55.
In reply, The Hurricanes went off to a flier with opener Tim Paine and Short going all guns blazing.
The Strikers’ miserable day at the office was summed up by Michael Neser’s disastrous over when he conceded 21 runs off it. Neser’s first two balls went for sixes, with one of them being a no ball, effectively making it 13 runs off 1 ball.
Hurricanes reached home in 17.4 overs with 8 wickets in hand thanks to Short's 60 off 39 balls.
