Baroda shattered records as they posted the highest-ever men’s T20 total by scoring 349-5 in 20 overs against Sikkim during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match on December 5 at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore. Baroda set the new record by surpassing Zimbabwe's previous best of 344-4, becoming the first Indian team to cross the 300-run mark in T20 cricket. Bhanu Pania’s 51-ball 134-run knock took the centre stage in the SMAT match as he smashed as many as 15 sixes in his innings.


Baroda crossed the 300-run mark in just 17.2 overs, with No. 3 batter Bhanu Pania leading the charge with a 42-ball century. They finished with 349/5 in 20 overs, with Pania remaining unbeaten on 134 from 51 balls, including five fours and 15 sixes. Notably, Baroda reached the 100-run mark in just 5.3 overs, making them the first Indian domestic team outside the IPL to score 100 runs in a T20 powerplay.

Baroda also became the first team to score 300 or more in the SMAT history. The previous highest team total in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was set by Punjab, who scored 275 runs against Andhra in the previous edition of the tournament.
