Continuing their poor run in Test cricket, West Indies faced a 64-run defeat against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Saturday. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam’s second innings 6-for restricted the Caribbean guests at 139.

At the same time, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladeshi bowler to grab 200 wickets in Test cricket. He scalped a total of 5 wickets in the entire game.

Earlier today, the hosts resumed their innings at 55/5 but they fail to stand long against the Windies bowling attack. They were bundled up for 125 with skipper Mohamadullah remaining the top-scorer with 31 runs.

Pacer Gabriel gave the first breakthrough when he bowled Mushfiqur Rahim for 19. Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah tried to rebuild the innings putting on 37 runs for the seventh wicket before Mehidy was removed by Bishoo for 18. He then dismissed Nayeem Hasan (5) and Mahmudullah in a quick succession while Chase wrapped up Bangladesh innings after taking Taijul Islam's (1) wicket.

The West Indies had a terrible start while chasing the 204-run target. They lost four of their top-order batsmen at a score of 11 runs after which they lost all the chances of bouncing back. Sunil Ambris top-scored for West Indies during the run-chase with 43 runs while Jomel Warrican was the next in the line-up with 41 runs against his name.

The duo stitched a 63-run partnership for the 10th wicket but failed to save the game. Shimron Hetmyer was the only third man to score double digits. He ended up notching 27 of 19 deliveries with a six and 3 boundaries.

With this victory, Bangladesh lead the 2-match series 1-0. The last game will be played on November 30 in Dhaka.
