ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 Test series: England's Harry Brooks suffered one of the most bizarre dismissals ever on Day 1 of England vs Australia Ashes 2023 1st Test on Friday (June 16) at Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham. The way Brook's gritty innings came to an end was quite freakish and without any doubt, one of the rarest dismissals in the history of cricket. The ball bowled by Aussie veteran Nathan Lyon, pitched outside the leg stump, somehow extracted a sharp turn from the pitch and went on to hit Brook's pad. The ball was pitched way outside the middle-stump area, ruling out the threat of a LBW out, however, the ball went high in the air upon hitting the pads before ultimately crashing into the stumps, leaving the fielders, batter and fans totally stunned.

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and asked Australia to bat first. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow both scored their respective fifties to help England reach 240/5 at Tea break on Day 1. After Bairstow's dismissal in the post-tea session, Root continues to bat with composure and is nearing a historic ton. So far for Australia, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood have taken three and two wickets, respectively, while Scott Boland has taken one wicket.
