Anuj Rawat-led India U-19 side registered a huge victory of an innings and 21 runs over Sri Lanka U-19 in the first Youth test match at Colombo.
Resuming the day at 177 for 3, still needing 268 runs to make India bat again, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 324, losing their last five wickets for just 45 runs.
Arjun Tendulkar, who took the first wicket of the match, made his way into the record books after he also too the last Sri Lankan wicket to finish the match.
Arjun gave a good account of himself after claiming the wicket of Nipun Malinga (23) after being hit for a four in the previous delivery. Malinga’s was the 9th Sri Lankan wicket to fall but the match ended since Sri Lankan cricketer Dulith Wellalage did not come out to bat.
For India, Mohit Jangra, who had all three Sri Lankan wickets last night picked up two more wickets to return with figures of five for 72 in 18 overs.
For Sri Lanka, Nishan Fernando and Nuwanidu Fernando were the stars. The former scored a scintillating 104 off 188 balls, the other Fernando fought hard on the last day with 78.
