USA vs Canada, T20 World Cup 2024: The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 is different from all of its predecessors in more ways than one. For beginners, it is the biggest-ever T20 World Cup with 20 teams participating in the competition. The tournament is being staged at the United States Of America (USA) and the Caribbean Islands too for the first time with several teams like USA and Canada also making their maiden appearances in this competition for the first time.


Co-hosts USA took on Canada in the first match of the competition itself which saw players born in 10 different countries taking part in the fixture, another record of sorts. The country which had the maximum representation was India with 7 players belonging to the South Asian Nation- USA's Monank Patel, Harmeet SIngh and Saurabh Netravalkar and Canada's Naveneet Dhaliwal, Pargat Singh, Shreyas Movva and Dilpreet Bajwa were all born in India.

In addition, three players each were born in USA and Pakistan. Moreover, two players born in South Africa and Guyana each also featured in the T20 World Cup 2024 opener. Canada, Barbados, New Zealand, Kuwait and Jamaica all had a solo representation in the Playing 11s of both the players.


USA Beat Canada In T20 World Cup 2024 Opener


As far as the USA vs Canada T20 World Cup clash is concerned, the co-hosts beat Canada by 7 wickts and 14 balls remaining. Aaron Jones was the top-scorer for USA as he scored a record-breaking 94* off 40, a knock studded with 10 sixes. Andries Gous also chipped in with 65 from 46 deliveries in USA's chase of 195.

For Canada, Navneet Dhaliwal scored 61 off 44 while Nicholas Kirton made 51 off 31. Shreyas Moova remained unbeaten on 32 off 16 to help Canada post what seemed like a solid total. However, that did not prove to be enough on the day.
