What is the Belgian Grand Prix?
The Belgian Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious events on the F1 calendar. Hosted on the legendary Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps, the track is celebrated and held in high regard by both the fans and the drivers. The track is nestled between beautiful Belgian hills, with a green forest surrounding it. Spa-Francorchamps’s combination of lengthy straightaways and difficult, fast corners allows Formula 1 drivers to push their cars to the limit.
Arguably the best known corner on the circuit is the Raidillon d’Eau Rouge. The drivers go flat-out through the Eau Rouge corner, as they flick their cars left and then right and carry the speed up the blind hill through Raidillon and into the long Kemmel Straight. This requires the teams to run a high downforce and high-power configuration on their cars.
