Assam: Olympic Bronze Medalist Boxer Lovlina Borgohain Files For Divorce In Guwahati

Lovlina Borgohain filed for a divorce petition in a family court in Guwahati against her husband, Nabanit Goswami oh Jorhat whom she married in 2018 after a long time relationship.

New Delhi: Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain has reportedly filed for a divorce petition in a family court in Guwahati against her husband, reported Northeast Now. 24-year-old Lovlina married her long time partner Nabanit Goswami of Jorhat in 2018. 

The divorce petition against Goswami has been filed by Lovlina in Guwahati’s Kamrup(M) family court. The reason for divorce is not known yet. 

Last week, Lovlina along with reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen booked their spots in the Indian boxing contingent for the 2022 Commonwealth Games by registering comprehensive victories on the final day of the trials. 

Producing dominating performances, Lovlina and Nikhat notched up identical 7-0 wins in their respective categories. While Lovlina defeated Pooja in the 70kg, Nikhat outclassed Minakshi in the 50kg category, news agency ANI reported .

On May 26, the Olympics bronze medallist was elected as a chair and voting member on the Board of Directors for the International Boxing Association’s Athlete’s Committee. 

Lovlina had won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020 in the women’s welterweight event, becoming third Indian boxer to win the title 

The Olympian has been appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Assam Government and was awarded the second highest civilian award of Assam, Asom Sourav in 2021. She received the Arjuna Award in the year 2020. Last year, the boxer was also conferred with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
