The Indian rowing team has secured its fourth medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The Indian contingent clinched a well-deserved silver medal in the highly competitive men's eight rowing event, reaffirming their prowess on the international stage.


The Indian rowing squad comprising of Neeraj, Naresh Kalwaniya, Neetish Kumar, Charanjeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar and Ashish exhibited exceptional skill and synchronization, completing the race with a remarkable time of 5 hours, 43 minutes, and 1 second. Their remarkable performance earned them the second spot on the podium, narrowly behind the formidable Chinese team, who secured the gold medal in this challenging event.


This victory adds to India's already impressive rowing medal haul at the Asian Games. Prior to this achievement, the Indian team had already secured a bronze medal in the men's pair event, thanks to the efforts of Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram, as well as a silver medal in the men's lightweight double sculls, courtesy of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh.

Following the medal at the men's eight rowing event, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulaye the team. "A spectacular display of strength and teamwork, the Indian Rowers secured a remarkable second place with a timing of 05:43.01 in the Men's Coxed Eight event at #AsianGames2022. Congratulations, team👍🏻," it wrote.
