India created history at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China with them managing their first gold medal in Equestrian after 41 years. Sudipti Hajela, Divyakriti Singh, Hriday Chheda and Anush Agarwalla helped India clinch their third gold medal of this edition of the Asian Games and the country's first-ever in Equestrian Dressage Team Event. The Indian Team recorded 209.205 points which was enough to give them the top-most position at the podium. Their win has taken India's gold medal tally to three with their overall medals tally now standing at 14.
While China finished second with 204.882 percentage points, Hong Kong setteled for a bronze medal with 204.852 points. The team aggregated 209.205 percentage points on way to the gold. It is pertinent to note that even though Sudipti Hajela was part of the event, only the top three scores were counted in the event. India's last medal at the Asian Games in equestrian came in the 1982 edition of the Asian Games in New Delhi.
Following the historic feat, Union Minister of Sports Anurag Thakur congratulated the team. "Hats-off to the team: Anush Agarwalla (๐ด Etro), Hriday Vipul Chheda (๐ดChemxpro Emerald), Divyakriti Singh (๐ดAdrenalin Firford), Sudipti Hajela (๐ดChinski) for winning ๐ฎ๐ณ's FIRST-EVER GOLD ๐ฅ at #AsianGames in Dressage Team Event ๐ฅณ," he wrote.
