Manchester: After much anticipation, England winger Jadon Sancho has agreed on a five-year deal with the club Manchester United. He will be transferred from the German club Borrusia Dortmund. Manchester Evening News reported that the transfer fee here is  £72.9million.

It has been more than a year now that Jadon Sancho was in talks with Manchester United over a deal. Dortmund had asked for £108million last year for Jadon Sancho, thus this £72.9 million deal is a significant win for Man United. Due to the changing economic climate of Covid-19 and with only 2 years left on Sancho's contract, he had no other option but to go for the Manchester-based club.

Manchester United announced Sancho's transfer on their website in a statement:

Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho.

The signing is subject to contractual terms and a medical, which will be completed after Jadon’s involvement in the UEFA European Championship.

Dortmund also owes 15% of the Sancho deal to Manchester City as per the contract signed in 2017. The 21-year-old forward was in talks with United for the past year but the negotiations could not come to a consensus even though the personal terms were agreed upon.

The Old Trafford faithful is extremely happy with the transfer of the star player. Jadon Sancho has scored 52 goals in 148 matches for Dortmund. He will stay at Man united till 2026. Currently, Sancho is with the England squad in Euro 2020.
