Endocrinology, or the study of the endocrine system, its secretions (hormones) and endocrine diseases, is an emerging discipline in medical science. However, a decade ago, the field was niche. Also, relatively fewer women chose a career in endocrinology mainly due to gender bias. Over the years, advancements have occurred in diagnostics and therapeutics, making it possible to detect endocrine disorders early and resulting in a better prognosis.
