  • The voting for the next Prime Minister of Britain has been postponed by conservative party members after an unexpected glitch on Tuesday. The decision was taken after GCHQ spy agency warned that cyber hackers could change people’s ballots, according to various media publications, reported ANI.

  • The wreckage of a military helicopter that went missing on Monday night carrying senior military officers was found and the death of at least six officers and crew members was confirmed by Pakistan military media wing on Tuesday. However, the claim by the Pakistan military was countered with a claim by an umbrella organization of Baloch separatist armed groups. Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an umbrella organization of Baloch armed groups claimed responsibility for targeting and downing the low-flying military helicopter in the mountainous areas of Windar and Noorani in Balochistan.

  • The Pakistan government led by Shehbaz Sharif is considering placing the name of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) leaders on the exit control list after the election commission of Pakistan prohibited funding ruling. The coalition government has also decided to request Chief Justice Umar ata bandial to constitute a full court to hear the case it is going to file in the wake of the prohibited funding verdict, Geo news reported

  • Advocates for Directors of the Amos company, whose name has become involved in the Gujarat hooch tragedy, withdrew the bail petition filed at Gujarat High Court as the court refused to accept the same and directed them to approach Sessions Court first. According to police officials investigating the matter, a chemical used to make alcohol was stolen by an accused worker from Amos Company in Ahmedabad.

  • Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi on Wednesday resigned from the Haryana Assembly. He is all set to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday. Accompanied by his wife Renuka Bishnoi and his cousin brother Dura Ram, Kuldeep Bishnoi met the Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and submitted his resignation.

  • West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reshuffled her cabinet and inducted nine new ministers in her team on Wednesday. According to a report by news agency PTI, Babul Supriyo, Snehasis Chakraborty, Partha Bhowmick, Udayan Guha and Pradip Mazumder were sworn in as cabinet ministers. Tajmul Hossain and Satyajit Barman took oath as ministers of state, and apart from them, tribal leader Birbaha Hansda and Biplab Roy Chowdhury were also sworn in as Ministers with independent charges.

  • Aamir Khan has said that he did not retain certain parts from the Hollywood film Forrest Gump for his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha. Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the 1994 film that starred Tom Hanks in the lead role. Aamir has said in a new interview that the ‘adult scenes’ that were in the original, did not make their way to the Hindi remake.

Lovepreet, a navy man from Amritsar, set two national records, one each in snatch and clean and jerk, as he had successful lifts in all his 6 attempts. It was also the 9th medal in weightlifting for India at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, as the country’s domination in the sport continues at this level.

  • President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday congratulated the Indian badminton mixed team for clinching silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.The defending champions India lost to the spirited Malaysia 1-3 in the gold medal match on Tuesday (August 2). PV Sindhu helped India bounce back after Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost the first match. However, the defeats of Kidami Srikanth, and Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand dethroned India as reigning champions.

  • Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team will take on arch-rivals Pakistan later this month at the Asia Cup 2022 on 28th August. The 2022 edition of the much-awaited event, hosted by Sri Lanka Cricket Board, will be played in the United Aram Emirates (UAE) from 27th August to 11th September. India will be playing a T20 International match against Pakistan since their ICC T20 World Cup 2021 match.
