National Sports Awards Winners: Most of the sportspersons honored for the Arjuna Award had brought home a medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Ali Qamar, who won the gold medal at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, was appointed as the head coach of the women's boxing team in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. The oldest national sports award in India is the Arjuna Award. It was started in the year 1961.
