Ashwin attained this special feat by cleaning up Stuart Broad for a duck. Not only Broad, even other English batsmen looked completely helpless in front of the off-spinner as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
This is the 23rd time R Ashwin has taken five wickets in Test cricket. He has now surpassed James Anderson, who has taken five wickets in Test cricket 22 times.
At stumps on Day 2, India led England by 249 runs with Chetshwar Pujara (7*) and Rohit Sharma (25*) unbeaten on the crease. Earlier, India were all out after scoring 329 runs in the first innings.
