Lionel Messi Suffers Major Silverware Roadblock For 2024 With Defeat To Monterry

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami lost 3-1 in the second leg of the quarter final of the CONCACAF Champions Cup and are eliminated 5-2 on aggregate at the hands of Monterry.

Brandon Vazquez opened the scoring for the home side in the 31st minute with a right-footed shot.

Monterry doubled their lead in the second half with a brilliant goal from German Berterame in the 58th minute.

Monterry settled the tie and put the game to bed with their third goal which came six minutes later after the second goal, as Jesus Gallardo scored in the 64th minute.

Diego Gomez merely managed a consolation goal for visitors in the 86th minute, as Inter Miami ended the match with a 3-1 defeat.

With the defeat, Inter Miami are now out of the CONCACAF Chmapions Cup and will shift their focus on the Major League Soccer 2024. (All Images Credit - Getty Images)
