World Cup 2023 England Semifinal Scenario: How England Can Qualify For World Cup Semi-Finals

England, the defending champions, have won only one out of their four matches so far in ODI World Cup 2023, beating Bangladesh by 137 runs.

England, at present, is at the ninth position in 10-team ICC Cricket World Cup Points Table, only ahead of bottom-placed Bangladesh.

Stil, it is not all over for England as they can still qualify for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-finals. England face Sri Lanka, today, in Bengaluru.

England have five matches remaining in the league stage and if they win all their remaining matches, they will have 12 points, enough to qualify for semis. However, there is no guarantee. Net Run Rate can be the deciding factor as well if more than one team reaches 12 points at the end of league stage.

If England win four of their five remaining matches in ODI World Cup 2023, net run rate (NRR) will decide the progress. Sadly, England, at present, have the 2nd-worst NRR in the tournament. 

If England experiences two more defeats, their chances of advancing in the tournament become very slim, and they could face elimination. Even with four wins, they would only accumulate eight points, which is unlikely to secure them a fourth-place finish in the table, potentially preventing them from reaching the semi-finals.
