Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli on Friday did a first of sorts after scoring his 26th Test century in the second Test against South Africa at Pune. On getting to the milestone Kohli also became the first Indian to score 40 international hundreds as skipper.
The ton against Proteas in the Pune Test was Kohli’s 19th as Test captain. He has scored 21 hundreds as ODI captain, which takes his overall tally to 40. With 40 international tons, Kohli is only behind former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting’s tally, who had 41 centuries as the Australian captain in international cricket.
Kohli levelled Australian Captain Ricky Ponting's record for second highest tons (19) as Test skipper. Both Kohli and Ponting trail South African skipper Graeme Smith, who leads the charts for most centuries as Test skipper with 25 tons.
