Shubman Gill Replaces Hardik Pandya As New Gujarat Titans Captain For IPL 2024

Shubman Gill replaced Hardik Pandya for the captaincy post after the latter moved back to Mumbai Indians in a 'historic trade'.

Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans for two seasons, guiding the team to an IPL title in 2022 and securing a runner-up finish in 2023.

Shubman Gill will lead Gujarat Titans with veteran campaigners such as Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson, Mohammed Shami and David Miller.

Shubman Gill emerged as the leading run-scorer at the last year's IPL. The 'Orange Cap' winner amassed 890 runs at an impressive average of 59.33 from 17 IPL matches.

With a prolific performance in 2023 in Indian Premier League and for the national team, Shubman Gill stood out as the most obvious choice for the GT captaincy post.

Hardik Pandya's return to Mumbai Indians is a big boost for them. Pandya, the premier India all-rounder, played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians' remarkable four trophy triumphs in the IPL from 2015 to 2021.
