PAK vs NZ T20I Series: Pakistan Women's Cricket Team Scripts History Vs New Zealand
Pakistan women's cricket team, on Tuesday in Dunedin, made history by ending a drought of over five years.
Pakistan women's cricket team secured a remarkable 10-run win against New Zealand in the second T20I of their series.
This victory marks Pakistan women's first T20I series win against New Zealand and their first T20I series victory away from home since October 2018.
Against the hosts New Zealand, Pakistan team set a competitive total of 137/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Pakistan exhibited excellent batting performances from Muneeba Ali (35), Aliya Riaz (32), and former captain Bismah Maroof (21).
Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal played a crucial role in the victory by dismissing key New Zealand batters Bernadine Bezuidenhout (2) and Amelia Kerr (2), which set back the hosts to 9/2 early in their chase.
Fatima Sana emerged as the standout among the Pakistan bowlers, boasting figures of 3/22. The Pakistani team's bowling effort exhibited both discipline and skill, culminating in their series-clinching victory.
Hannah Rowe emerged as the top scorer for the home side with a well-compiled 33 runs. However, her effort wasn't enough to steer New Zealand to victory. The Pakistan Cricket Board's recent move to grant 11-month domestic contracts to 74 young women cricketers aligns with the positive turn of events for the Pakistan women's cricket team.
