View In AppOn Sunday though, CSK decided to drop the experienced off spinner and include Karn Sharma for the title clash against the Sunrisers, which made fans believe that Harbhajan may soon announce his retirement.
However, ‘Bhajji’ has come out to deny the reports and asserted everyone that he has no plans of retiring any time soon.
“I don't want to retire now and just to want to continue playing for my fans. Same applies for Yuvraj and Gambhir also,
“Dhoni was right that he needed someone who would take the ball away from the batsman. We have seen wrist spinners bowling more and more overs in the IPL compared to finger spinners. But I hope it would change next year. Well done to Karn and glad to be on the winning side,” Harbhajan said, defending Dhoni.
Karn Sharma bowled a spell of 3-0-25-1, which included a big wicket of Kane Williamson.
Still, with his tally of 417 wickets, he is the highest Indians wicket taker and third in the world among current players.
More than Harbhajan’s still impressive numbers, the current player tag is sure to attract a few rolling eyeballs even among the cricket enthusiasts.
Like Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan too has reached the twilight of his career and fans are counting towards the day Harbhajan would finally decide to hang his boots.
The speculations spiraled when Dhoni did not use Harbhajan for even a single over in the first Qualifier against Sunrisers, which Chennai Super Kings won.
Dhoni, however, came out with a witty response to defend his decision of not bowling Harbhajan in the crunch match. “I have a lot of car and bikes but I don’t drive all of them together,” Dhoni said after the match suggesting that it was a tactical decision not to bowl Harbhajan.
Harbhajan Singh last played a Test match back in 2015 in Galle, Sri Lanka.
