On This Day: Ben Stokes Scripted History Against Australia In 2019

It was during the third Ashes 2019 Test when Stokes played one of the most brilliant innings ever, guiding his side to win from the depths of despair. (Getty)

Post Australia’s dominating performance with the bat, the English side had a target of 359 runs to chase and that is when Stokes took the onus and ended up playing an incredible knock of 135* runs in 291 deliveries. (Getty)

Notably, England at one point in time were reeling at 286-9, needing 73 runs to win the game with just one wicket in hand. (Getty)

Stokes came and he conquered and ensured his side’s victory. It was Jack Leach who was standing as the last man, his contribution was also crucial. (Getty)

Facing 17 deliveries, Leach was unbeaten at one run and he was spotted rotating strike constantly to Stokes. (Getty)
