Tickner has only been included for the final T20I against India. He will replace Lockie Ferguson, who will be a part of the side for the first two matches.
“Both Daryl and Blair have been rewarded for the strong form they’ve produced in domestic cricket,” said New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen.
Doug Bracewell, brought in as a replacement for the injured Jimmy Neesham ahead of the most recent T20 against Sri Lanka, has retained his place in the squad.
The other new face in the side is Central Stags fast bowler Blair Tickner.
Fast bowler Trent Boult has been rested from the T20I series keeping the World Cup in mind.
The responsibility to lead the New Zealand pace attack in Boult’s absence will be on Tim Southee’s shoulders, who had captained New Zealand in the one-off T20I against Sri Lanka
Uncapped all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has earned his maiden call-up in the New Zealand side.
Mitchell, who plays for the Knights in the domestic cricket has forced his into the side on the back of some solid performances for New Zealand A.
New Zealand have announced their squad for the three-match T20I series against India starting on February 6 at Wellington.
The hosts have made a few changes to their squad that won the one-off T20I against Sri Lanka.
