India Star Mohammed Shami Doubtful For T20 World Cup 2024: Report

According to the report, Mohammed Shami, already ruled out of IPL 2024, is scheduled to undergo surgery for his ankle injury.

Mohammed Shami, reportedly in UK at present, underwent treatment for his swollen ankle which did not yield desired results. As per the report, the senior pacer is now scheduled to undergo surgery for the same issue.

Shami, India's leading wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup 2023, is expected to remain absent from the upcoming T20 World Cup, along with the subsequent series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Shami was in London in last week of January to take special ankle injections...but the injection hasn’t worked and now the only option left is surgery. He will shortly leave for UK for surgery. IPL seems out of question, a senior BCCI source told Insidesport.

The news comes as a huge setback for India as the inclusion of Shami alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj would have formed a formidable pace attack trident for the Men in Blue in T20 World Cup 2024.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, India is scheduled to face Ireland in their campaign opener on June 5. The much-anticipated IND vs PAK match will take place on June 9 in New York.
