Australia are already in the WTC Final but India and Sri Lanka are still in contention for second spot. Like India, Sri Lanka will play Day 5 of their Test match against New Zealand on March 13. 1st Test of two-match Test series between SL and NZ is underway at Christchurch.
For India to qualify for WTC final, the equation is simple. If India wins Ahmedabad Test, they will clash against Australia in WTC Final and result of SL vs NZ Tests don't matter.
However, unless Indian bowlers produce a miracle on Day 5, IND vs AUS Ahmedabad Test will most likely end in a draw.
If India loses 4th Test on Day 5 or the match ends in a draw, they can still qualify for WTC Final provided Sri Lanka fails to beat New Zealand in 1st Test at Christchurch.
Coming to SL vs NZ 1st Test, New Zealand, chasing 286-run target, need to score 257 more runs on Day 5 to win the match against Sri Lanka.
