IND vs ENG 1st Test: Joe Root Set To Break Sachin's Record With Just 2 More Runs
Root, England’s most experienced and consistent Test batter, has already achieved numerous milestones in red-ball cricket, and now he stands just two runs away from surpassing one of Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing records.
Sachin Tendulkar currently holds the record for the most Test runs in India-England matches played in England, with 1,575 runs in 17 matches.
Joe Root, however, is just behind with 1,574 runs from only 15 Tests. Root will equal the record with a single run and surpass it with two — making this a historic moment waiting to happen early in the match.
While Tendulkar still holds the record for most runs in England in the IND vs ENG rivalry, Root has already overtaken him in total runs across all India-England Tests.
Root has scored 2,846 runs in 55 innings, while Tendulkar scored 2,535 runs in 53 innings.
With the series underway, Root has a golden opportunity to further cement his dominance in this classic rivalry.
