ICC Test Rankings: Kohli jumps to 2nd spot, one step away from creating history
For Sri Lanka, captain Dinesh Chandimal has gained eight places to take ninth position after finishing the series with 366 runs, the first time he has moved into the top 10.

All-rounder Angelo Mathews has moved up seven places to 23rd position after scoring 111 in the first innings while Dhananjaya de Silva's match-saving 119 in the second innings has lifted him nine places to 47th position.
India’s No. 3 Cheteshwar Pujara slipped two places to be at No.5. But the battle for top five is quite interesting with David Warner and Kane Williamson also in the mix.
However, Kohli still has some catching up to do with No. 1 ranked Steve Smith, who is still 45 points ahead.
Rohit Sharma was the other beneficiary for his consistent performance in the three-match series, he moved six places to be at 40.
Ravindra jadeja slumped to the third position after losing a place in the bowlers’ ranking. R Ashwin was steady at the fourth spot.
In the allrounders’ list, Jadeja was at the second spot, while Ashwin lost a place to be at the fourth position.
This came, after he had already scored a double hundred in the second Test.
Kohli is now one step away from topping the charts in all three formats of the game at the same time. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is the only player to do the same in 2005-06.
Kohli registered his career best score of 243 in the first innings of the third Test against Sri Lanka. He followed it up with another half century in the second innings.

Kohli started the series in sixth position but has leapfrogged David Warner, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kane Williamson and Joe Root after the stupendous run which saw him average 152.50.
