During this period, the teams will be able to exchange uncapped players as well as those who have played no more than two matches till the halfway stage of the tournament.
This is being done so that players (foreign and domestic) who have not been able to make into the playing XI in their respective franchise due to stiff competition can be swapped by other teams to fulfil their requirements.
The two teams will be allowed to negotiate and buy their desired players, just like clubs do in football. What has to be kept in mind is that only those players who have played two or fewer matches in the season will be eligible for the transfer.
South African JP Duminy who has only played one match for his franchise Mumbai Indians so far will be on top of the mid season transfer list. However, MI might not swap Duminy as their star all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been out of form and the southpaw might just be the right choice for the franchise to replace the Trinidadian.
Franchises will also be eyeing English all-rounder Moeen Ali who has not represented RCB in a single match till now. The spin all-rounder was bought by the franchise for INR 1.70 crores.
The two teams will be allowed to negotiate and buy their desired players, just like clubs do in football.
Following the pattern of major football leagues like English Premier League and La Liga, in the IPL transfer window too, franchise can swap players in the middle of the season.
Bringing yet another innovation to the biggest cricketing extravaganza, IPL has once again spiced up the tournament introducing the mid season transfer in the season.
Just like popular leagues in football, IPL this time will witness the first ever transfer window mid season which will be active from Match 28 and Match 42.
