Faf du Plessis to miss warm-up games

AB de Villiers is back to lead the South African contingent and they will hope to clinch their first ever ICC trophy.

The 32-year-old had limited opportunities for the Rising Pune Supergiant with the presence of Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Imran Tahir and Dan Christian. The right hand batsman could only feature in 2 matches.

Faf did not complain about the limited opportunities and he was happy to see his team sail through finals of the Indian Premier league.

Now, with all focus on Champions Trophy, South Africa begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Asian giants Sri Lanka on June 2.

With just 14 days remaining for the Champions Trophy, South Africa have suffered a massive blow.

South Africa’s Test skipper Faf du Plessis is up for a race against time to be fit for Proteas three-match ODI series against England which begins next week.

Faf, who represented Rising Pune Supergiant in the Indian Premier League will miss warm-up games against Sussex and Northamptonshire which will take place on May 19 and May 21.

However, Cricket South Africa expect him to be fit before the first ODI against England.
