Sri Lanka Captain Dasun Shanaka Ruled Out Of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

As per an ICC release, Dasun Shanaka sustained the injury during Sri Lanka's ODI World Cup match against Pakistan on October 10.

It will take at least 21 days for Dasun Shanaka to recover fully, forcing the Lankan team management to bring in his replacement.

Chamika Karunaratne, who is Dasun Shanaka's replacement, traveled with the Sri Lankan team to India as a reserve player.

Chamika Karunaratne might make his ODI World Cup debut during Sri Lanka's next ICC Cricket World Cup match against Australia on Monday.

Chamika Karunaratne is a right-arm medium pacer and a middle-order batter. So far, he has represented Sri Lanka in 23 ODIs.

In Dasun Shanaka's absence, Sri Lanka vice-captain Kusal Mendis is expected to take over as captain for the remaining tournament.
