Dale Steyn signed as replacement
Steyn has 419 Test wickets, just two behind Shaun Pollocks South African record.
Steyn has been confirmed as the overseas signing of English County side Hampshire for the Natwest T20 Blast.
After a break of almost five months, Steyn is finally ready to make comeback into the cricket field and that too in the shortest format.
However, there is no clarity as to whom Steyn will replace. At first, it was reported that Steyn would replace countryman Hashim Amla in July.
Now, reports have emerged of Steyn replacing New Zealand opener Colin Munro, who has been signed by Hampshire on Thursday.
But over the years injuries has taken toll on the South African fast bowler, forcing him to pick and chose matches and even going to the extent of skipping the shortest format to prolong his Test career.
And there is none better than Dale Steyn, who can do exactly that on a repeat mode.
However, a heel injury sustained during the first innings ruled him out for 3-4 months. He did not take any part in the following Australia series.
Steyn made a comeback into Test cricket after a gap of almost 12 months against India earlier this year, giving rise to hopes of being available for the full season.
There are few better sights than seeing a fast bowling running in on full tilt and roughing up the batsman with serious pace.
