While there are enough indications that he has fallen off the radar as far as India's limited overs scheme of things are concerned, Rahane is still hopeful that he can turn the table.
With IPL done and dusted, focus will now slowly shift towards international cricket, towards India’s batting combination, in the longer format as well as ODIs and T20Is.
India has an acute scenario with two of its vice captains – Rohit Sharma in limited overs and Ajinkya Rahane in Tests – not finding a place in other formats.
Rohit Sharma even went on to hint that he doesn’t even think of Test cricket since half of his career is already over. Rohit’s comments came after he was not included in the 15-member Indian squad for the historic Test match against Afghanistan.
Now, India’s vice-captain in Test cricket, Ajinkya Rahane has contemplated that the limited overs axing does not affect him anymore.
He believes that being overlooked for the limited overs leg of the UK tour will give him more time to do his homework for the big-ticket five-match Test series against England, starting August 1.
