Pune-Based Software Engineer Turns Shipping Container Into Saffron Field Using Aeroponics — IN PICS

Using Aeroponic technology, Modak grows saffron in 160 ft area. Aeroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. The roots are suspended in the air and rinsed with a nutrient-dense mist.(Source: ANI)

Saffron was grown with the help of premium quality crocus corms/bulbs procured from Pampore in Kashmir. I invested Rs 10 lakhs as one-time investment. For saffron farming, I brought seeds from Kashmir, using Aeroponic technology I grew saffron in just 160 sqft area, he told news agency ANI. (Source: ANI)

Modak had grown leafy vegetables using the Hydroponic method wherein plant roots are regularly submerged in a nutrient-rich solution in the same shipping container. We first produced green vegetables and strawberries where we got success, after that we started cultivating saffron, he said. (Source: ANI)
