Northeast will soon get its first Vande Bharat Express train. The train (Up-22227-Down-22228) will run between New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal to Guwahati six days a week, covering around 410 km within 6 hours. (Source: ANI)

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Odisha's first Vande Bharat train last week connecting Puri to Howrah, via video conferencing. (Source: PTI)
After the launch, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said last Thursday that PM Modi aims to make Vande Bharat accessible in almost all the states by June this year, as reported by news agency ANI. He also added that PM Modi is building a strong foundation for a brighter future. (Source: PTI)

In 2019, India got its semi-high-speed train, which was known as Train 18 earlier. It was later named as Vande Bharat Express. In 2023, a total number of 15 Vande Bharat Express trains are operating in the country. The numbers will only increase after the New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati Vande Bharat Train is flagged off soon.
