The Royal Navy of Britain and the Indian Navy participated in Konkan 2023, a maritime exercise that demonstrated operational readiness, improved interoperability, and carried out joint operations.

View In AppAccording to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence, the annual military exercise took place in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Konkan from March 20 to 22, 2023.
The two navies' joint drill demonstrated operational readiness, improved interoperability, and enhanced their capacity for joint operations. The exercise will help the Indian Navy and Royal Navy work together to improve maritime security and maintain a rules-based order in the region, according to the release.
In order to improve interoperability and learn best practices, INS Trishul, a guided missile frigate, and HMS Lancaster, a Type 23 guided missile frigate, participated in this edition and participated in multiple maritime drills.
The exercises included gunnery shoots on the surface inflatable target Killer Tomato, helicopter operations, anti-air and anti-submarine warfare drills, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS), ship maneuvers, and personnel exchanges across all maritime operations domains, according to the release.
