Following severe rains, excess water from the Red Hills reservoir is discharged. According to Tiruvallur district officials, the Kannankottai Thervoy Kandigai reservoir has achieved its maximum level of 36.61 ft, with an outflow of 130 cusecs. The dam's discharge has been raised from 100 to 500 cusecs. Similarly, other reservoirs have had abundant inflows, and Redhills has reached 82.97 percent of its 3,300 mcft capacity.
