The Culture Ministry has organised a Tiranga bike rally of MP's to celebrate the 75th year of Indian Independence. Several MPs of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) participated in the event which started on Tuesday. Under the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged everyone to hoist or display the national flag at their house between August 13 and 15. Party members will also undertake 'prabhat pheri' down to the booth level between August 11 and 13, playing 'Raghupati raghav raja Ram', Mahatma Gandhi's favourite devotional song or India's national song 'Vande mataram'. BJP chief J.P. Nadda has also appealed to citizens to unfurl 'Tricolour' on top of their houses, outside apartments and establishments for three days from August 13-15 to fulfil the wish and appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (Image: PTI)
Despite appeal by the BJP, Opposition MPs stayed away from the event with Congress stating that government is just a front for this programme, in reality, it's a political agenda. (Image: PTI)
BJP, on the other hand, has slammed Opposition parties including the Congress for not participating in the Trianga bike rally. BJP spokesperson Shezaad Poonawala also accused the Opposition MPs of planting fake narrative that they were not invited, tweeting the invitation. (Image: PTI)
According to reports, the BJP will also be observing Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14. The PM had announced it last year in memory of the people who struggled and sacrificed their lives during the country’s division. (Image: PTI)
