IN PICS | This Splendid Durga Puja Pandal In Kolkata Stands Out For Its Unique Library Theme
An establishment depicting 200 years of the Bengali renaissance was showcased at Babubagan Puja. The organisers of Durga Puja have also experimented with the theme of their pandals this year keeping in mind the important events across the country.

View In AppTo mark 200 years of the Bengal Renaissance, the Babubagan Sarabjanin Durgotsav Samiti designed its Durga Puja pandal in south Kolkata as a library, showcasing prominent figures and books related to the movement.
The history of West Bengal has been expressed through the pandals in such a way that you will not believe that it is actually a Puja pandal. In fact, a library, a museum and some pages of history have been kept in such a beautiful way in the Pooja Pandal of Babu Bagan.
On one side there is a replica of Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and on the other hand there is 200 years old history of Bengal. Even the idol of the goddess is decorated in the form of a black and white statue in the middle.
The history of Bengal's 200-year renaissance has been fully showcased in pandal of Babubagan. Around 3000 books are kept in the museum making it tough for devotees to understand whether it is in a museum or a puja pandal.
Pictures of all the famous personalities who are making India proud all over the world have been placed inside the pandal. These include names such as Sukumar Roy, Ashutosh Mukherjee, Nilaratan Sarkar, Nivedita, Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ram Mohan Roy and others.
Disha, a student, shared the joy of visiting the pandal. I am very fond of books so I am very happy to see such a concept, it is very beautiful. I like to know my history, the history of India. Very proud. There is so much to learn here, she said.
West Bengal soaked in the festive spirit of Durga Puja on 'Mahasaptami', as devotees began the day with traditional rituals and revellers made a beeline for popular marquees across the state.
