On January 9, the PBD Convention was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and it featured addresses by the Chief Guest, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the President of Cooperative Republic of Guyana, and the Special Guest of Honour, H.E. Mr. Chandrikapersad Santokhi, Hon’ble President of the Republic of Suriname. In his address to the gathering, the Prime Minister noted that the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is being held in its entirety after a four-year hiatus, emphasising the importance and delight of the personal interaction. The Prime Minister, in welcoming everyone on behalf of 130 crore Indians, stated that the event is taking place in the region of Madhya Pradesh, which is known as the heart of India and is famed for the holy waters of Narmada, greenery, tribal culture, and spirituality.
