Sustainable Beauty: How To Build An Eco-Friendly Skincare Routine
1. Go for Recyclable or Refillable Packaging: Packaging is one of the most serious areas of pollution in the beauty industry. Such products are often packaged in plastic bottles which are non-recyclable or non-reusable and therefore contribute to waste poisoning in landfill sites. To rectify this, search for companies that provide their consumers with recyclable packaging or even the more advanced refillable ones. Designs that incorporate glass containers, aluminum tubes, or biodegradable materials, are much more environmentally friendly than the use of single-use plastics. (Image source: Canva)

Many commercial anti-aging products include ingredients such as parabens and sulfates that are not only dangerous for your skin but also endanger the habitat. Avoiding the use of toxic substances can eliminate these products from being disposed in water thus, reducing water pollution. (Image source: Canva)
3.Tolerance for Cruelty-Free and Vegan Brands: Sustainable beauty is more than just caring for the environment as it extends to how compassionate one is to animals. There are still a number of cosmetic products that are tested on pets, and several of them even have such animal-based substances as beeswax, lanolin, and collagen. It is better to use skin care brands that are cruelty-free and vegan so as to fight against animal testing and encourage ethical beauty practices. (Image source: Canva)
4. Spare the Water: Water that is used in the manufacture and packaging of products to water that is used on a daily basis for skincare, all these have one common factor – water. In order to make your skincare routine eco-friendlier, use oil, solid, or powder-to-foam cleansers and avoid water intensive products like lotions and further minimise the use of water by reducing your shower time. 5. Buy from Brands that Share for Advertisements Causes: Most of the sustainable skincare brands strive to return helping the ecosystem. There are those companies who get some tree-planting ventures, some of them give their share of earnings for the preservation of nature, while others are dedicated to programs aimed at minimising greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, instead of just spending money to buy products which temporarily improve the skin, by using those brands you contribute positively to the wellbeing of environment.(Image source: Canva)
