Irrfan Khan’s Wife Sutapa Sikdar Was His Pillar Of Support; He Once Said- ‘If I Ever Get To Live, I Want To Live For Her’

View In AppLast year, Sutapa penned a heartfelt post to thank well-wishers after Irrfan's recovery from neuroendocrine tumour. Longest year of our life. Time was never measured with pain and hope at the same time ever. While we take our baby steps back to work, to life, I am submerged in prayers, wishes and faith from friends, relatives, strangers and a connection with the universe which gives us a small chance for this new start, the post read.
Irrfan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018. The ‘Piku’ actor flew to London for treatment and his wife supported him throughout.
Sutapa Sikdar produced ‘Madaari’ and ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’, both starring Irrfan Khan in the lead role.
Irrfan and Sutapa’s love blossomed on the campus of National School of Drama (NSD). The couple tied the knot in February 1995. They had celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in February 2020.
“What to say about Sutapa? She is there 24/7. She has evolved in care-giving and if I ever get to live, I want to live for her. Although, Sutapa Sikdar was rarely seen making a public appearance with her husband Irrfan Khan, she was his pillar of support. Irrfan Khan, while talking to a leading daily ahead of ‘Angrezi Medium’ release, had said that if he ever got a chance to live, he would live for her.
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan breathed his last in Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital on Wednesday (April 29). He was hospitalized on Tuesday with a colon infection.
