Amitabh And Jaya Bachchan's 51st Anniversary: Rare PICS Of The Power Couple From Younger Days

In their illustrious careers spanning over decades, the real life couple has also shared screen space in several movies such as Chupke Chupke, Zanjeer, Abhimaan, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

In the early 1970s, the country's most celebrated couple first laid eyes on each other. Jaya saw Amitabh at the Pune Film Institute when he arrived one day with the famous filmmaker K. Abbas and a group of other actors.

Although Amitabh's personality caught Jaya's attention, nothing significant transpired at the time. While Jaya was already a superstar, Amitabh was still struggling to establish himself as an actor.

After the success of Zanjeer, Amitabh and Jaya got married and subsequently had two children: Shweta Bachchan, born in 1974, and Abhishek Bachchan, born in 1976.

Jaya appeared on the cover of a glossy magazine, which sparked the beginning of their love story. When Amitabh saw this cover, he took a thorough look at Jaya Bhaduri. By serendipity, Jaya embodied all the features of his dream woman, perfectly balancing traditional and modern values.

He was particularly captivated by the charm of her beautiful eyes, which stirred feelings of love in his heart. Much later, Hrishikesh Mukherjee brought them together, and the sets of the movie Guddi served as their formal meeting ground.

Amitabh was thrilled to work opposite Jaya, who had already earned a reputation as a versatile actor.

Very few know that the much-in love couple took the big leap in their relationship as they had to go to London following the success of Zanjeer. Arrangements were made and Amitabh and Jaya tied-the-knot in the presence of close friends and family members and left for London on the same day.

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have been living their 'happily ever after' with their daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, son Abhishek Bachchan, son-in-law Nikhil Nanda, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and their grandchildren Navya Naveli Nanda, Agastya Nanda, and Aaradhya Bachchan.
