Volkswagen Virtus First Look: GT Variant Could Be A Sports Sedan To Wait For With Its Looks & Power | SEE PICS
First look verdict: The launch is in May of this year while the GT variant would be available for the top-end Virtus engine line-up which means the GT is the fastest Virtus you can get. The GT has always been in the premium range with the Polo GT and the Taigun GT.

View In AppExterior: The Virtus is big and also quite long with a length of 4651mm. That means it is the longest sedan in its class and that means it looks like it belongs to the next segment. The GT line adds in a lot of sporty details without going overboard. The design is similar within the Volkswagen range but the look is much more aggressive now. The front-end especially blends the grille well with the headlamps along with sharp foglamp enclosures. The Volkswagen design is always about sharp lines and the long character line which flows through the doors and meets the rear tail-lamp. The GT variant in the Cherry red colour has various details in contrasting black. The side view also shows the length of the car. The dualtone black roof, rear spoiler, black ORVMs and black 16inch alloys with red brake calipers are sporty touches which make the GT stand out. We would have wished for bigger alloy wheels similar to the Taigun but these look good nevertheless. The rear tail-lamps have a blacked out effect while the earlier mentioned small boot spoiler is a neat touch.
Interior: We had limited time with the car but we did squeeze in some precious time behind the steering wheel to check out the driving cockpit. We will be driving the car next month but for now the design and the dashboard is similar to the Taigun with the same sporty/German simple yet elegant design. The GT adds red stitching on the seats, aluminium pedals and there is special red ambient lighting too. The GT shows red accents on the dashboard as well. The quality feels typical Volkswagen while there is a 8inch digital instrument cluster and a 10inch touch screen.
There are plenty of features like an electric sunroof, cooled glovebox, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, climate control, rear view camera with parking sensors, connected car technology, ventilated front leather seats, five adjustable headrests, auto headlamps, 6 airbags, ESC and more. The Virtus also has a good amount of space at the back with ample legroom/headroom for even tall passengers. The huge 521 litre boot is also there.
Engine: The GT would be available with the 1.5 TSI turbo petrol engine which makes 150bhp/250Nm. Enthusiasts will like that there is a 6-speed manual gearbox on offer while top-end variants will get a DSG automatic 7-speed gearbox. Paddle shifters are also there which brings in manual controls. We have seen this engine with the Taigun and it is quick with good performance. In the sedan, we expect the Virtus GT to be fun to drive also.
Hence, the Virtus GT could be a sports sedan to wait for with its looks and power. We will find out more next month. Stay tuned.
