2022 Harley Davidson Road King Review: A proper Harley built for smooth roads and long rides, know it performs when it comes to routine usage.

If there is any motorcycle that defines what Harley Davidson is all about, then it is the Road King since it carries all the usual attributes that any Harley should have. In other words, it is huge, looks fantastic, and is made to cruise at a relaxed pace. It is a proper full-size motorcycle that slots in with the Touring range of Harley and it is indeed very big. It looks superb and in an old-school cruiser way with loads of chrome along with fantastic attention to detail along with quality. This red paint along with that amount of chrome on a bike this big does get a lot of attention so get used to that, however in traffic you do feel like a rockstar! Even for a very tall rider, it might be a daunting task to ride this massive Road King across traffic but it is not difficult at all. The saddle height is low and it is easy to get in. The riding position is easy too along with the bike being comfortable for both short/tall riders. With the 375kg weight, in traffic, it is slightly difficult to ride it at low speeds but you do get used to it though again parking it is not very easy considering the heft. However, all that size and weight falls away when you ride it on open roads with a sofa-like seat and that engine which is all about torque. The Road King has a Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine with the torque coming in nice and early. Despite the weight, the performance is there but in a linear way as you cruise effortlessly. In terms of handling, this is a big bike but that does not mean that it feels like a truck around corners since the weight is surprisingly manageable. Other bits? The brakes are good but sudden stops do make you feel the size while the mileage is roughly around 17kmpl. This is an old-school bike and that is apparent with its analogue speedo- but it suits it. Overall, at Rs 28 lakh, the Road King is a proper Harley built for smooth roads and long rides on Sundays and less for everyday usage with its weight but we discovered that it is also a surprisingly fun motorcycle to ride. (Photo: Somnath Chatterjee)
